this is great, found you thanks to a referral from rishad t.’s feed — truly appreciate the comparison to social’s growth trajectory and we see how that ended up.

Thank you so much. Those early days of social taught me so much. I don't think anyone really realized back then how big it would become, but the smart marketers knew it was an immense change in consumer behavior and they benefited by being there early.

Appreciating this deep dive! AI isn’t just changing how we interact with tech, it’s redefining the entire ad ecosystem. Your breakdown makes it clear why early adoption and experimentation will separate the leaders from the laggards in 2026.

Fascinating trajectory! The adoption curve looks impressive on paper, but I wonder if we're measuring the right thing. Are people actually building sustainable workflows with AI, or are we just in the novelty phase? Long-term, AI will be as foundational as search engines - but the path from here to there is going to be bumpier than this chart suggests.

Thanks for the thoughts, Alex! I'm guessing the chart you're talking about is my prediction that AI usage will outpace social media usage in the US. (let me know if you were thinking of a different chart in my piece.) I think people are at different places in their path toward using AI more regularly. Some have moved beyond novelty, and others haven't. Social media usage growth was driven by the fact that this was a new way to be "social" with friends and connections. Growth of AI usage and AI search will be driven by time savings and efficiency. (Side note: I think platforms like ChatGPT could do a LOT to make it easier to revisit and build on conversations you've previously had with it.)
